THE BASILDON CREDIT UNION
A HELPING HAND
We are unable to process any new loan applications (Acorn Loans, Child Benefit Loans, Top-Up requests and Regular Loans) at the current time. However, we are able to continue to process balance requests and withdrawals. This is due to the unprecedented demand on our services at the current time. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Not for Profit Organisation
What is a Credit Union?
Credit Unions are not-for-profit organisations which are owned and controlled by members, with no outside shareholders to satisfy. Members save regularly every month, and this forms a pool of money which is lent to members by way of loans at reasonable rates of interest.
Basildon Credit Union Ltd. is an ethically focused Financial Co-operative with our members at the heart of everything we do. We want our members to have a unique experience when dealing with our team and are fully committed to the principals of the FCA Consumer Duty which sets higher and clearer standards of consumer protection and requires us to put customers’ needs first. We recognise that our employees and Directors are critical to delivering a positive member experience and ensuring our members are treated fairly. Our culture and values encourage and support our team to do this.
Basildon Credit Union has been serving its customers for over 34 years. We are looking for Voluntary Directors to join our Board who don’t mind rolling up their sleeves and getting on with hard work – ideally with some experience/knowledge of Social Media and/or IT or general business/clerical skills. Becoming a Director means that you have to commit to attend one Board meeting every month (held on a Thursday evening) and assume roles within the CU. You will get in return a real sense of helping the community and being part of something very special. You will need to be Bank of England vetted and obtain a DBS certificate (we arrange and pay for this)
If you would like to know more please send an e-mail expressing your interest, together with a copy of your CV to credit.union@basildon.gov.uk and we will get in touch.
